The holidays are here, and it is hard to escape amazing holiday dishes and cookies at every turn. This is tough for me, because I am working hard to develop healthy habbits. I decided to do some self care to help me power through, and that self care has come in the form of a 5 week workout/nutrition program that my friend at Cr3ation Fitness has developed for the holidays! (This is not an affiliate in any way, I am just sharing what my battle plan is!)
We just started today, so first thing when I woke up, I followed the 20 minute workout plan and videos she has prepared. Now ya’ll, I hate working out. Like, you don’t understand how much I really really hate it. I hate being sweaty, I hate getting out of breath, I hate having to shower afterwards, I just hate it all. So waking up and doing this right away was a huge feat for me, but I felt FANTASTIC afterwards. Now I will walk through the rest of this day and have a higher sense of self confidence, because yeah, I am overweight, but I am striving for health.
It’s not about loosing a ton of weight for me, it is about honoring God with my body. This morning I made a tough, but great decision for myself. I cared for myself, I showed myself that I love my body and that it is worth putting a little effort into. At breakfast I opted for hard boiled eggs instead of the pancakes my husband was offering, and I felt great that I made a much healthier choice!
Now today at lunch, I will probably make a great, healthy choice again because I am already feeling so great! Making one positive decision to show that you care for yourself will result in a cycle of love and care.
There is an even deeper reality to all of this, that is probably the most important aspect of me conquering my hatred of working out. By loating anything active and healthy, I am sinning. So by waking up and using some self-discipline to complete my workout, I conquered a sinful part of my heart.
Check out just a few of the verses that address our health and attitude towards our bodies:
James 4:17 “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it. for him it is sin.”
1 Corinthians 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?”
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.” (OUCH)
Romans 12:1 “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship”
Matthew 6:25-26 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?”
Uhm, did you catch all of that? God will DESTROY anyone who destroys His temple (your body)! I know that I have allowed myself to develop a wordly mindset of laziness and apathy, even writitng these verses for you, I was convicted by the Holy Spirit!
Now listen, this doesn’t mean you have to be any specific weight or God will smite you, no. This just means that we need to be intentional about our bodies and mindful of how we care for ourselves. I say it over and over again to myself, this journey isn’t about loosing weight, it is about being healthy, and if I loose a few pounds in the process, great!
I am sure that I will never be 125lbs again, and thats ok. As I strive for health, and develop habbits that show my body that I care for it, I love myself more and more, regardless of its size.
Below is a photo of what my program from Cr3ation Fitness looks likes through my phone app. It is a pretty cool set up, and Michelle is awesome to work with! So you can check her out at www.cr3ationfitness.com, or on instagram!
